Complementary Therapies

Our complementary therapies can help patients and carers to cope with the stress and anxiety that cancer often brings. They are intended to complement your orthodox medical treatment, not provide an alternative to it.

Patients and carers wishing to have complementary therapies need to be registered as members of Cancer Support. We will contact your GP to obtain authorisation for you to have one of our therapies. You will then be offered an appointment at The White House.

Currently we offer six sessions of therapy without charge if you live within The Black Country area or your GP is in the Dudley Borough. Your therapist can then recommend that you have a further six sessions. After your twelfth session, if you would like to continue to have therapies, we request that you make a donation of £5 per session.

The therapies we currently offer are reiki, reflexology, massage, Indian head massage, aromatherapy and hopi ear candles.

Whilst you are having chemotherapy or radiotherapy we are only able to offer reiki. One of our therapists will carry out an assessment to make sure that a particular therapy is suitable for you.
